Backyard Club

Zoom in from your backyard while we make art and play through the lens of our senses!

In Backyard Club, kids will explore, create and enjoy their unique backyard spaces. They can zoom in from their treehouse, under their favourite tree, their patio or their deck. Kids will learn about the natural world around them through inquiry and research and then they will document their learning through art-making. Kids will work through the lens of our senses to slow down, observe and draw inspiration from the natural world.

Amber Santos Learn more about me

Amber Santos is an art educator and artist with over 25 years of experience, including 15 years in online education and creating 65+ activities for the HomeLearners Network. Her multidisciplinary practice is deeply rooted in her German heritage and reclaimed Métis and Anishinaabe culture, blending paper craft, beading, textiles, and eco-conscious gardening. Amber’s curriculum combines technical fundamentals like colour theory and with somatic, wellness-centered art practices. A painter and muralist with an on-going studio practice, she also spent seven years curating the Nelson International Mural Festival of which she is a co-founder.

When I'm not making art, find me listening to music on full blast in the kitchen, dancing and making food for my family:)
