STEAM Magicians: Optical Illusions
Can you believe your eyes?
Kids will learn mind-bending optical illusion tricks to amaze their friends and family. They will learn about the theory of Persistence of Vision and make a Thaumatrope illusion. They will explore vision and colour work together and create their own 3D images with DIY glasses
1 Your Guide
I'm an artist, a speculative-fiction writer, tiny-home dweller, mediocre ukulele player, and a true believer that you can figure out how to make anything you can dream up. Most days, I can be found slinging some mud around on my pottery wheel and trying (and sometimes failing) to prevent my new puppy from chewing on absolutely everything. In addition to my degree in education, I have a bachelors of fine arts and I love volunteering at my local literacy organization! I speak a little German from my time living in Berlin (where I led a weekly STEM club for learners) and I believe every subject in school should be guided through the lens of Art.
I strive to live as sustainably and off-grid as I can. My big dream is to move into a tiny, off-grid, cabin in the forest to make pots all day, especially if I can have a couple of goats (maybe even tiny goats!)
2 Materials Needed
Rubber bands, cardboard (like from a cereal box), hole punch, markers (must have blue and red), scissors, glue and tape, clear crinkly plastic from recycling, paper, parchment paper, pair of glasses or sunglasses to trace
