French Salon: Explore art and music
Let’s time travel to 19th Century France and explore art and music in the French Salon!
In our French Salon, we’ll explore famous French works of art and use them as inspiration to create our own art. While we draw, paint and sketch, we’ll listen to famous French composers and learn French expressions to express appreciation for each others’ chef-d'œuvres.
1 Your Guide
Hello and Bonjour! My name is Jenn. I speak English and French, and have been lucky enough to teach in both languages for over 20 years, from one coast of Canada to the other! I’ve been an elementary school teacher, a home learning parent to my two kiddos, and even drove a huge classroom on wheels (the COW bus!) to teach preschoolers about Science. As a certified Yoga instructor with a background in dance, movement and theater, I believe we are meant to move our bodies in different ways, every day! I am also a student of breathing and meditation, and love to help kids find their own path to mindfulness. My family and I live on Vancouver Island, where we spend lots of time at the beach, hiking and camping. Being outdoors helps me tune in with nature, calm my mind and learn about all the living things around me. When I’m not traveling or teaching, you can find me curled up with a good book or covered in dirt in my garden!
Fun Fact: If I wasn’t a teacher, I’d be a librarian! I love children’s books, especially reading them aloud with different voices and accents.
